The tidal basin is a partially man-made reservoir between the potomac river and the washington channel in washington, d.c. it is part of west potomac park and is a focal point of the national cherry blossom festival held each spring.. The tidal basin is my favorite place to go paddle boating in dc. it is the most scenic place for pictures, and the basin is so large that you can actually cover quite a bit of distance paddling from one monument to the other..
